Hey there all! The more I get into my new cart the more I am loving this thing. Not that the little stock Tecumseh 6 hp didnt have enough power for me with a couple of easy mods but I was ready for the quality and reliability of a Honda. So alas I just ordered my new GX200QX2 and am already getting excited to start modding it up. My question is that I have a small pair of fog lights on my cart and sould like to have an alternator for the engine to be able to run them. Though so far I have not been able to find one on the net. Not really sure if I an not calling it by the proper name or maybe they just dont make one. Anyway RED can you help me out??!!

if your engine doesn't already have an alternator, then I think you are better off getting some kind of deep cycle battery.

The part you are looking for is a Stator. You will need a flywheel setup for a stator, and the stator coils themselves. The block should have the mounting bosses already around the crank, but Im not 100% positive.

Got a stator and a flywheel...no bolts. $25.00 will take it.

They bolt onto a clone? So one would put that flywheel on and add the stator in the (presumably already there) place for such? If the OP doesn't take it, I will.

The charging stator bolts to the engine, then the flywheel with internal magnets goes on.

It seems like people get all excited and make a lot of posts when they need something, but then they never come back and let us know how it turned out. For instance I'd love to know how well the stator is working for him because I'm thinking about putting on headlights, etc misc electrical stuff on my kart. As it is he's just left us hanging.

Just to let you guys know, I picked up that coil and flywheel, I'll try and let you know what I come up with using it. I wonder, will I need a voltage regulator, something like on a snowmobile?

No, it's a single stator, so it'll produce 12 volts at 3 amps.

Speaking of stators, would anyone know how to wire up the stator on a Tecumseh HM80? If you could just give the color of the wires that would be fine. I could probably figure it out myself, but if someone knows then it's that much easier. I have plenty of diode bridges and capacitors, etc to make true DC, it's just a matter of figuring out which wire is which.

Thanks,
Robert occasion5
