New to Yerf Dog Go-Karting. We picked up a 3203 yesterday (used). My boys pushed it back home today and said it would not move forward. I didn't have rope as per your instructions. I used a leather belt and wrapped it around the torque converter while loosening the nut. Cleaned up the parts and put it back together, now it works. I did notice that the drive belt needs replacing by the rough look on its edge. The yerf jerks when taking off. Hope to pick up belt this week.

I took a rachet strap and wrapped it around the converter 2-3times and then hooked the hooks to a bar and tightened it up.. then the bolt came right out without it spinning..

Yeah that sounds like a good idea, you should be able to take it off with out the strap next time though.

I used a small impact wrench to blast off the driver and a larger impact to blast off the driven. That wasn't the fun part though. The fun part was getting the driven apart. It was surface rusted onto the jackshaft. Quite a treat. Had to use tons of PB blaster and a picklefork to get that sucker off. Then I got to drop $50 on a puller to get it apart cause surface rust wouldn't allow the outer part of the driven to come off. Now all is good but getting that driven off the shaft was quite a pain.

Be careful with that impact..... if you break the head off the bolt...... your gonna be in a mess

Make sure to clean the driver and driven up really good.

It's a little mini 3/8 without enough ba11s to snap anything off. It will either break it loose or do nothing.

Great forum! My son just purchased a Murray Explorer without an engine. We bought a junk ("donor") go kart that has a running Tecumseh engine on it. We need to remove the torque converter on the donor kart in oder to get the engine off of that machine (there is a guard on the inside of the torque converter that we need to remove in order to separate the donor engine from the junk go-kart). We followed the steps in the "torque converter removal guide". We used the "rope in the cylinder" trick and it worked great! Now we need to remove the inner half of the pulley (the second picture in step five of the "torque converter removal guide is a great photo of this pulley half that we need to get off). Ours appears to be rusted to the shaft. We have been soaking it with WD40 and Kroil for a week. We tried to put a three arm puller on it, but I was afraid of bending the pulley, so we abandoned that approach. Question: How do you remove the inner half of the pulley of the torque converter pictured in step five? Sorry if this has been posted before! Thanks in advance for any advice! J. Stewart
