I dont get it.. Please help..with 40 series ctv

I wanted to put 13 h.p and add 40 series drive and driven,,,but I just found out ..the driven goes on the opposite way...how can that be...why cant things just be simple?they said Id need a spring that was wound in the opposite direction or something....am i stuck w/6.5 h.p the rest of my life?

Can't you add a jackshaft to make it go the correct direction?
