Bird Baja Buld

Postby BRob » Thu Jan 25, 2018 2:28 pm

Hello,

My Son and I have decided to take on a go kart build project. We found a Bird Engineering Baja which I believe was manufactured around 1972...ish. We were considering a restoration but after some research we realized it would be very hard to find a lot of the "original" parts, so we decided to do a little bit of custom work. We are planning to replace the handlebars with a vintage type steering wheel, which also means pedals, and to replace the front wheels with regular non highway style/ off road wheels. Below is a few videos of the work we have done so far. I've also added a picture.

your feedback is always welcome.

Thanks,
Bob

BRob, welcome to GokartsRus, Awesome project, Love the videos very helpful. I would also replace that steering wheel. Good to see other father and son's doing projects. Also is the that silver plate on the back where the engine goes? Kinda awkward, since i would imagine you would be sitting there when driving it. Please keep us posted on the progress , i love watching stuff like this.
