FNR shifter quandary

[duh]

I've gotta 2014 TM XRX and was wondering if it's possible, with modifications, to swap the plastic shifter to the 250/300 metal shifter. Has it been done? Can it be done? Or are the shifting mechanisms on the engines different? Thanks for your time.
