What is minFraud?
minFraud is the proprietary credit card fraud
detection service that combines our GeoIP?
technology with other in-house developed
order variable checks such as open proxy
detection. The minFraud service can provide
all the information obtained during manual
verification and additional information in
less than one second. Merchants can use the
minFraud service to speed up manual order
verification, automate order process by using
our risk scores, or develop their own customized
scoring system with the information that
we provide.
What is the minFraud Network?
Since the minFraud service is a hosted solution,
it connects and consists of all the e-commerce
businesses who are currently using the minFraud
service. Currently, more than 6,000 e-commerce
businesses are protected by the minFraud
service through our client and partner networks.
By combining feedback and resources from
the minFraud network and delivering new features
designed to combat emerging fraud trends,
we are able to help merchants reduce chargebacks
effectively.
Why join the minFraud Network?
Businesses may prefer to have an in-house
screening system, but we believe a hosted
service has advantages over an in-house system.
While in-house fraud screening systems may
be effective, over time, fraudsters will
figure out a way to circumvent the security
measures. Being part of the minFraud Network
allows for a more dynamic and adaptive approach
to fraud detection through the idea of mutual
protection. For example, if we detect suspicious
activity from an IP address, it will be flagged
as high risk throughout the network in real-time.
Feedback from merchants will serve as a warning
signal to all others within the network.
For that reason, the minFraud service can
complement existing in-house fraud checking
systems very well.
*If billing and shipping addresses do not
match EXACTLY: You will be required to submit along with
your order a Different Address (DA Form). This extreme measure is to protect not
only us against potential Credit Card fraud
but also you the user of the Card.
Why should you go through this extra step? I can explain how easy it is to use a (any)
Credit Card number and Expiration Date if
this process is not required....
- First off, the thief calls in an order using
a (ie) your stolen Card (or uses the site's order form,
shopping cart system etc. to input your Card info) they simply input an address
that does not match the billing address (of
course, they want the goods coming to them,
not you!)
- Usually the shipping address will be an abandoned
warehouse or a non-occupied residential /
commercial address etc.
- The thief can easily meet the delivery person
(driver) or can even pick up the item(s)
at their convenience if left off (which happens
all the time folks). Usually they want tracking
numbers to promptly meet the driver or watch
from a distance (the items getting dropped
off) so they can quickly "move in"
and snatch the goods
- So look how easy that was (and yes we have
way more indepth stories) but this is a good
example of a surface scam that is popular
with non matching Billing to Shipping Addresses.
- Now you (the legit Credit Card holder) is
going to get charged for the sale. And you
(the Card holder) will have to go through
many phone calls and fill out several fraudulent
forms on behalf of their "stolen"
Credit Card and to get credit back on your
Card (It's not real easy either!)
- Bottom line: This form protects you the legitimate
Card holder against this fraud.
- The DA Form stays on file for future purchases also,
you only have to mail/fax it once!
Still don't want to use the DA Form to get the item(s) you wish shipped to another
address? OK, get the item(s) shipped to the billing
address then!
Still don't want to use the DA Form but persist that the item(s) get shipped
to another address? Please visit a site that doesn't care about
your Credit Card protection like we do. Sorry,
we do not and will not bend on this matter. |
